Setting Tuition and Fees

The Arizona Board of Regents usually sets ASU's tuition and fee rates each fall for the following academic year.  Arizona State University is a publicly-supported institution and receives a portion of its budget from the state government.  Tuition and fees are subject to legislative and gubernatorial action that may affect the nature and level of legislative funding.  Substantial changes in levels of state support and other factors such as inflation and increased costs may require increases in tuition and fees. All amounts shown in the Tuition and Fees Schedules or in other University publications or web pages represent tuition and fees as currently approved.  However, Arizona State University reserves the right to increase or modify tuition and fees without prior notice, upon approval by the Arizona Board of Regents or as otherwise consistent with Board policy and to make such modifications applicable to students enrolled at ASU at that time as well as to incoming students.  In addition, all tuition amounts and fees are subject to change at any time for correction of errors.  Finally, please note that fee amounts billed for any period may be adjusted at a future date.

On April 16, 2009, in response to unprecedented reductions in state support and the prospect of substantial additional reductions, ASU submitted the following proposal for an economic recovery surcharge on all students in FY10.
